About Me

Hi there!
Thank you for checking out this page to get to know a little behind the scene of how my creations came to be. :)

The name Pinky and the Bear comes from my old favorite cartoon in the 90's called "Pinky and the Brain" (basically about 2 lab mice, one being silly and the other wanted to take over the world lol). So, I changed from the Brain, to the Bear. Thus, "Pinky" is the silly and fun side and "the Bear" is the warmth and loving side.

I first learnt pottery in one semester in high school. The one I went to in Texas as a ceramic class and I fell in love throwing on the wheel instantly. I love the mindfulness and peaceful vibe I get from throwing and making sculptures. But back then I didn't think about making a career with ceramics at all. I went on to do other things completely non-related to clay for more than 12 years.

Along the way, my childhood pug passed away and it hit me very hard. She was my very own first pup. It felt like I had lost a part of my soul that I could never recover. And I found that painting was helping me to cope. I later began experimenting with different materials and at first became intrigued with making art dolls, using polymer clay and faux fur to create a version of her. I managed to make several realistic animal dolls and finessing the art of sculpture along the way.

But working with polymer clay doesn't result in shiny vitreous/glass-like finish and everyday functionality that I expected to achieve. Thus, my journey back to pottery began and I self-taught and experimented with this ceramic clay ever since.

I've always been a person who can be an extrovert when needed, but I'm actually a bit shy when it comes to interacting with new people. I'm most comfortable when being with my fur babies and my partner in my own space. I'm always curious and easily entertained by little things in life and in nature and I think it's what helps me with my imagination. It's like I have my own little colorful fun world where I live in, and because clay gives me an artistic outlet to actualize my imagination and my world is complete with it.

Pinky and the Bear About Me

Apart from my love for animals that inspired the creation of Pinky and the Bear, another most important factor that helps me create my art is my little fur baby white bear. He is a 12 year old Maltese, Cooper❤️ A lot of my designs derived from my silly, quirky, pinky side and his warm and loving side. I owe it to his companionship. We both are truly blessed to have found each other.
